The dove represents peace, a profound feeling of relief, faith, and hope. This cross has the words Amor and Vida, which is what I found at the House of Peace. Much Love and a new Life. I chose the word Life in this cross because it reminds me that Life is fragile and that I need God to be well, but also that Life is beautiful.
The grapes symbolize life transformations for me, the changes that turn grapes into wine or even raisins. Even though the grapes change shape, texture, and flavor, they continue being food that nourish. The same for us: our experiences transform us but our essence remains the same. Y.A.
Living at the House of Peace lifted me up. I received time, attention, affection, and counsel. This begins to transform my life. I started to believe that my life was a gift from God and that I didn’t have to live with verbal and emotional abuse. It helped my self-esteem and strengthened my faith in a God that is good and compassionate.
I realized the power of prayer. I felt empowered by a renewed desire to move forward. I have pushed myself hard. I have finished my Master’s degree thanks to the support I received at the House of Peace. I’m grateful for the relationships that I found and that enrich my life now.
I especially enjoy serving as a volunteer. It allowed me to become more sensitive toward others and myself and to polish many qualities that I needed to improve. It was like an internal exam that helped me grow as a person. Y.A.
