The House of Peace is a place of personal transformation. Those who seek our help have decided they will no longer tolerate the indignity of insult and abuse.
Our unique model for healing features a 6 month residency for only 6 families at a time. This extended stay allows individuals time to initiate and experience recovery from trauma and abuse. The intimacy of the 6 family setting encourages a sisterhood of shared experience and support, where healing and growth can occur.
Nurturing accountability and development, our multi-faceted programs enable women to advocate for themselves and their children. Participation in the community of growth and empowerment fortifies their resolve to embrace change and provides examples of successful transformation.
Our vision is healthy sustainable independence for our families. Safe, affordable housing, job placement and follow-up services lay the foundation for successful transformation.
Comprehensive programming and community empowerment is making change possible … change that resonates beyond our walls modeling dignity and courage to the entire community!
The House of Peace Shelter building was renovated by the loving hands of over 200 community volunteers, and opened in November of 2011.
We are so grateful for the continued support of our dedicated staff, volunteers and generous donors.
